How does KNX climate control work?

A KNX climate system collects temperature data from sensors in each room centrally. A KNX thermostat sensor measures room temperature, humidity, and presence. Based on this data, the fan coil actuator, heating valve, or AC unit is controlled. The system reduces or turns off climate control in empty rooms and keeps only occupied areas at comfort level.

Room-based control

In a KNX system, each room is a separate temperature zone. A child's room stays at 22 degrees during the day, while a guest room is only heated when in use. The master bedroom drops to 18 degrees at night and starts warming up again toward morning. This level of control is not possible with traditional single-thermostat systems.

Fan coil control

Many villas and hotels in Antalya use fan coil units. A KNX Fan Coil Actuator controls the fan speed and valve of each unit. If there is no key card in the guest room, the fan coil is turned off. This significantly reduces the energy consumption of air conditioners running constantly in summer.

Antalya summer/winter transition

The temperature difference between summer and winter in Antalya can reach 20 degrees Celsius. The KNX system automatically switches between heating and cooling modes during seasonal transitions. Thermostat sensors detect nighttime coolness and automatically open windows for natural ventilation (with motorized window openers). This kind of integration takes smart home comfort to the next level.
