What is a multiroom system?

A multiroom audio and video system lets you manage speakers and screens in different rooms from a single center. KNX enables these systems to work together with lighting, blinds, and climate control. KNX does not carry audio signals itself; instead, it sends commands to the audio system. For example: when a "cinema" scene is activated, KNX closes the blinds, dims the lights, and turns on the AV receiver.

Follow-me audio

One of the most impressive KNX features is music following the owner as they move from room to room. KNX presence sensors detect which room the person is in and route the music to the speakers in that room. Audio in other rooms lowers or stops. This is made possible through integration between KNX and the multiroom system.
