A smart home is a building where lighting, climate, blinds, security, and multimedia systems are controlled from a single point, or remotely, usually through a mobile app. The goals are comfort, lower energy use, and managing safety from one place.
What is KNX, and why did it become the standard?
KNX is an international standard for building automation (EN 50090, ISO/IEC 14543). It runs devices from different manufacturers on the same two-wire line, the green KNX bus. The practical effect: you are not locked to one brand, and you can expand the system years later with devices from other makers.

Gateways
KNX IP Router
As Turkey's leading KNX manufacturer, we are proud to present the first and only locally produced KNX / IP router device, breaking new ground. ITR902-0001 - KNX / IP Router It is a KNXnet/IP routing and tunneling device that connects the KNX line and the Ethernet network.
Devices send small data packets over the KNX bus. A motion sensor switches on a light, a thermostat drives the boiler, and a touch panel collects all of these commands on one screen. This structure is more robust than consumer-grade wireless systems and is built to last more than a decade.

Benefits of a smart home system
- Comfort: Scenes on one touch. A "Cinema" scene closes the blinds, dims the lights, and turns on the projector.
- Energy: Motion and light-level sensors turn lights off in empty rooms. A 20 to 30 percent saving on lighting energy is a typical result.
- Security: Smoke, water-leak, and motion sensors push instant alerts to your phone over the KNX bus.
- Value: Automation is no longer a luxury. It is a standard expectation in new villa construction.
How does a smart home installation work in Antalya?
A villa project usually runs in four stages: site survey and needs analysis, electrical and KNX bus planning (during rough construction), device mounting and programming, then commissioning and user training. For KNX, the cabling must be pulled during construction. Adding KNX later is partly possible with wireless gear, but it stays more limited.
Two questions come up often from villa owners in Antalya: mobile app support in a foreign language, and remote security for seasonal use, meaning a summer house. KNX solves both through a local server or a cloud gateway. These two needs show up together in villa projects across Muratpasa, Konyalti, Lara, Kemer, and Belek.
KNX or a wireless consumer system?
This depends on the state of the property. For a newly built villa and a long-lived system, KNX is the right choice. For adding smart features to an existing home on a low budget, wireless ecosystems like Tuya, Xiaomi, or Shelly can work. The two approaches are not in the same league for scalability, security, and lifespan. You can also combine them in a hybrid setup.

FAQ
Can I retrofit a smart home system to my existing house?
You can automate parts of an existing home with wireless gear (Tuya, Xiaomi, Shelly). Full KNX automation, however, requires cabling pulled during construction. KNX can be added later only in a limited way through wireless devices.
Should I choose KNX or a wireless system?
For new construction and a long-lived system, KNX. For a fast, low-budget solution in an existing home, wireless. A hybrid of both is also possible.
How long does installation take for a 200 m² villa in Antalya?
Once the cabling is in place, mounting and programming typically take 1 to 2 weeks. Total time including survey and commissioning depends on the project scope.
